God has control over every language as demonstrated in Scripture by the examples at Babel
(Genesis 11:1-9) and at Pentecost (Acts 2). A major reason for learning Spanish is the benefits
to Christians in God’s service both here and abroad as missionaries. The knowledge of a
foreign language expands us beyond our own small world into a world of diverse cultures, ideas
and attitudes. The study of any foreign language enhances our knowledge and understanding
of our own language. The well-trained Spanish speaking person in California is able to seek
and obtain more diverse employment because of the skills learned. Learning a foreign
language will enrich a person in many areas, not just in the language learned.
Goals
1. To develop skills in listening, reading, and writing in a foreign language.
2. To familiarize students with linguistic terminology and application.
3. To teach about the culture of the people who speak the language and to help students
become interested in and appreciative of other cultures.
4. To show the students practical ways to use foreign language in today’s world.
5. To equip students to be able to lead another person to the Lord by use of Scripture.
