2. Appreciate the need for reading and reasoning skills, and their importance in the study of
Scripture.
3. Appreciate the need for diligence, consistency, and great individual effort in the systematic
process of achieving comprehension of a mathematical system and the corresponding need
for the same type of effort in the systematic process of spiritual growth.

We desire the student to generally:

1. Develop habits of effective, critical, and discriminatory thinking.
2. Develop the ability to distinguish between relevant and irrelevant data.
3. Appreciate the need for precision of language.
4. Perceive the role of deductive and inductive reasoning.

We desire the student to mathematically:

1. Gain competence in the basic mathematical skills.
2. Acquire facility in applying mathematical techniques.
3. Appreciate the presentation of communication of thought through symbolic expression.
4. Gain a basic understanding of the development of a mathematical system.
5. Appreciate the application of mathematics in relation to other sciences, in statistics and
probability, and in logical reasoning and language development
