Distance Learning Information

Greetings VCS Families,

First, I want to acknowledge how the rapidly unfolding news and progression of the past several weeks has likely been challenging for you and your families. As we all know, this fluid situation equates to changes and updates day to day, if not hour by hour. I am reminded and comforted by the fact that as Christ followers, we are led by the One who never changes. It is wonderful to see Victory families put their confidence in the Lord’s sovereignty in the midst of the unknown.

As promised in my last correspondence on Friday, this letter is to give you the game plan for advancing student learning during our temporary campus closure. Though I am not surprised, I am greatly encouraged by our staff’s response to shifting gears. Our all-staff gathering this morning was productive, collaborative and very positive. We are all committed to your child’s growth academically and spiritually. I am grateful that we live in this technology-rich time where it is feasible for students to connect with their teachers and make progress in their learning via various devices.

To that end, each campus has some specifics we would like to share with you so that you can help guide and support your student to continue with their learning during this temporary campus closure.

Both the Elementary and High School will be open 9-Noon Tuesday- Friday this week for students to come retrieve any items they need at home.

I will continue to send updates as they relate to campus-wide information. As far as academics, as always, your child’s teacher will remain the first point of contact if your child needs clarity on an assignment or other learning questions.

Thank you for your support,

In His Service

John R. Huffman

Superintendent

Elementary Students:

Parents, please look for an email from your child’s elementary teacher. This email will give you instructions for how to log-on to their teacher’s Google Classroom this week and other important information about how learning will continue off site.

Junior High and High School Students:

Important notice: remote instruction and assignments will begin on

Tuesday, March 17 via each teacher’s Google classroom.

As an important step in getting distance learning up and running, we are asking each

7TH-12TH GRADE STUDENT TO DO THE FOLLOWING ON MARCH 17:

  • ADHERE TO THE TIMES IN YOUR NORMAL SCHOOL SCHEDULE (see attached master schedule below) AND CHECK IN TO YOUR TEACHER’S VIRTUAL GOOGLE CLASSROOM ON A COMPUTER OR OTHER DEVICE (ie: at 8 am, check in on-line to your first period’s Google Classroom; at 9 am check into your second period's Google Classroom, and continue throughout the day in each of your classes)
  • Each teacher will be giving an overview of what to expect in the coming days and weeks when it comes to lectures, assignments, assessments etc.  It is important to check-in on Tuesday, March 17th to connect with each teacher at the normal class period time to know what is expected in each class moving forward.
