Monday - NO SCHOOL!! Veteran's Day Holiday
Tuesday - Memorize John 5:24. Read Luke 5:17-26 and the parallel account in Mark 2:1-12. Write at least a three sentence response in your journal.
Thursday - Verse quiz and journals due tomorrow!!
Friday - Thanksgiving Break! Enjoy and give thanks for all the many blessings that surround you!! See you November 26th!
Week of November 5 - 9
Monday - Verse to memorize John 3:16-19 to write out for Friday's quiz. Read Luke 5:12-16, and respond in your journal (summary, questions, or thoughts about Jesus, etc...)
Tuesday - Write out the passage John 3:16-19 in your journal. Say it aloud to someone in your family and have them sign your journal.
Thursday - Recite John 3:16-19, be ready to write it all for the quiz tomorrow. Read these two passages and respond in your journal (Mark 2:1-12 and Luke 5:17-26). (summary or questions, or thoughts about Jesus, etc..)
Friday - Verse quiz. Journals due today!
Week of October 29 - November 2
Monday - Verse to memorize: John 3:19. Read Luke 4:1-13. In your journal write a response to the temptations of Jesus, and explain how he was able to resist the temptations of the devil.
Tuesday - Read and respond to Luke 4:16-22 and Matthew 4:23-25. What was Jesus doing in his ministry.
Thursday - Reflection paper on John 4 due tomorrow. Verse quiz John 3:19 tomorrow.
Friday - Reflection paper due. Verse quiz.
Week of October 22 - 26
Monday - Study verse John 3:17. Verse quiz tomorrow. Reflection paper due tomorrow on John chapter 2 OR 3. (use purple sheet as a guide)
Tuesday - Re-read John 4:1-30. Respond in your journal... What do you think was the point of the divine meeting between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. What questions do you have?
Thursday - Study verse John 3:18 for verse quiz tomorrow. There will be a few lessons from the lesson as well.
Friday - Think Biblically!
Week of 10/15 - 10/19
Monday - Memorize John 3:17-18. Pick John 2 or 3 to write a reflection paper. Due next Tuesday.
Tuesday - Work on memory verse and reflection paper.
Wednesday - Think Biblically topic - Why the Christian Worldview Matters (Reflection paper due next Tuesday. Verse quiz John 3:17 next Tues. John 3:18 next Friday.)
Thursday - NO SCHOOL (parent conferences)

Week of 10/8 - 10/12
Monday - No homework! Go to the concert!!
Tuesday - Review your notes from John Ch2. In your journal write what you learned about Jesus from the two events discussed (water to wine at the wedding / cleansing the temple).
Thursday - Verse quiz tomorrow on John 3:3 and 3:16. Read John 3:30. In your journal write what this verse means. How can you apply this in your life?
Friday - Verse quiz. John 3:3 and 3:16
Week of 10/1 - 10/5
Monday - (Reflection papers due!) Memorize John 2:19. Read John 2:1-11. What is your favorite part (or verse) of this section of scripture. Explain in your journal.
Tuesday - Memorize John 2:19. Read John 2:12 - 25. Re-read v24 - 25. What do you think these verses mean?
Thursday - Verse quiz tomorrow. John 2:19. In your journal write a response to the student-led chapel experience today.
Friday - Verse quiz - Think Biblically topic.
Week of 9/24 - 9/28
Monday - Memorize John 1:29. (Quiz on Wednesday this week) Reread John 1:24-34, the context of the memory verse. In your journal, under the verse, explain what John the Baptist meant.
Tuesday - Work on reflection paper for John 1, due Monday October 1st. Journals due and verse quiz tomorrow.
Wednesday - Journals due! Reflection paper due Monday!
Thursday and Friday - NO SCHOOL
Week of 9/17 - 9/21
Monday - Memorize John 1:14 - Read the selfie article given out in class. In your journal, write out some of the points that stood out to you. Also answer the following question: How are you challenged to get outside of yourself this year, and be less self-focused?
Tuesday - Begin working on lesson summary / reflection paper. Due Wednesday.
Thursday - Reflection paper due Wednesday. Memorize John 1:14 for quiz tomorrow.
Week of 9/10 - 9/14
Monday - Memorize John 1:1-3 for Friday's quiz. Read Colossians 1:15-20. How does this passage similar to John 1:3? (Write your response in your journal)
Tuesday - Re-read John 1:19-34 - What was John the Baptist's testimony about Jesus? Respond in your journal. (Work on memory verses)
Thursday - Read John 1:35-51. Write a summary of what you read. Study for the verse quiz for tomorrow.
Friday - Discuss selfishness - Plan practical outreach activity!
Week of 9/4 - 9/7
Monday - No school, Labor Day
Tuesday - Memorize John 1:1-2. Read John chapter 1.
Thursday - Quiz tomorrow on John 1:1-2. Using your notes from class, write a paragraph summary of why we should study the Bible in your journal.
Friday - Think biblically topic: Selfishness!
Week of 8/27 - 8/31
Monday - Read John 14 - 16. Write one insight or takeaway and one question from your reading. Memorize John 20:31a-b.
Tuesday - Read John 17 - 19. Write on insight or takeaway and one question from your reading. Memorize John 20:31a-b.
Wednesday - Friday - CAMP!! Please finish reading the book of John, respond in your journal. See you Tuesday, Sept 4th!
Week of August 20 - 24
This week and next we will be reading through the entire gospel of John for homework. The purpose is to get an overview of the whole book before we slow down and go chapter by chapter in class.
Monday - Read John 1 - 3. Write down at least one comment and question from your reading. Begin memorizing John 20:31 for the verse quiz on Friday.
Tuesday - Read John 4 - 6. Write down at least one comment and question from your reading. Work on memory verse.
Thursday - Read John 8 - 10. Write down at least one comment and question from your reading. Work on memory verse. Verse quiz tomorrow on John 20:31.
Friday - Verse Quiz! Read 11 - 13. Write down at least one comment and question from your reading.
This year's focus will be on the gospel of John.
Here are the supplies you will need for this class. Please have them by Monday, August 20th.
- Bible (NASB or NKJV) Verse memorization will be in NASB version (New American Standard)
- Basic composition book / journal (Walmart or Target sells them. They have a black spine, and are usually black and white patterned. The cost is about 50cents. We will be decorating these, so it is important that this type be purchased.)
- 3 ring binder with dividers and notebook paper
- black or blue pen
- dry erase markers
